Sanya natural museum is the only natural museum in Hainan Province. The treasure of town hall: Sanya pterosaur

The head of pterosaur fossil has a huge cavity near the eye, which can reduce the weight of the head and facilitate flight. The length of the fourth finger is about 20 times that of the other fingers. The long fingers can be used as "wings" to balance the body during flight. However, due to the imperfect function, Sanya pterosaur could only take a dive posture most of the time.

According to reports, pterosaur was the first vertebrate to fly into the sky, belonging to flying reptiles. It was the air overlord of the Mesozoic era, living 250 million years ago and extinct 65 million years ago. The new genus and species of pterosaur collected by Sanya Museum of nature are the first discovered in the world, and the most complete pterosaur fossils have been found so far. Their integrity and ornamental value are first-class. They are unique in the world, so they are worthy of national treasure.

The first flower in the world: guguo

The "Liaoning ancient fruit" collected by the museum is 145 million years ago. It is the earliest angiosperm fossil in the world, that is, the "ancestor" of the present flowers. It is also the earliest flower in the world with definite evidence so far. Because of its emergence, paleontologists created the "archaeaceae", which solved the dispute about the origin time and region of angiosperms in the field of paleontology, and solved the "obnoxious mystery" that Darwin thought.

Having the biggest eyes: ichthyosaur

The ichthyosaur collected in the museum was found in Guanling area, Guizhou Province. According to the introduction, the longest ichthyosaur can reach 15 meters, of which the tail accounts for half of the whole body. Living 250 million years ago, it was a ferocious carnivorous animal and the overlord of the sea at that time. Ichthyosaur's eyes can be up to 26.4cm in diameter, larger than a football, and it is the largest known eye on earth.

The oldest evidence of maternal love: Dinosaur embryo fossils

At present, dinosaur eggs have been found in more than 200 places in the world, but few complete dinosaur embryos have been found in them. The intact dinosaur embryo preserved in the museum is very rare. It contains the embryo that is about to shell, which makes people realize the greatness of dinosaur mother hundreds of millions of years ago.

From 500 million years ago to now: crinoids

Although there is a similar plant name, but the sea lily is a genuine animal. The crinoids, which appeared in the deep sea 500 million years ago, are still tenaciously living in the deep sea after wind and rain, and are known as "living fossils". According to reports, the sea lily is a kind of echinoderm, relying on its dense tentacles to grasp small creatures to survive.
