Former residence of Li Jieren
Li Jieren's former residence is located in shangshahebao, the eastern suburb of Chengdu, Sichuan Province, the people's Republic of China. Li Jieren named it "Lingke" because it was built near the "water chestnut" pond. It is a famous scenic spot in the suburb of Chengdu.
Former residence of Li Jieren
The former residence was built in 1939. The main house was originally a grass roofed building with a suspended hill on the first floor and the first floor. In 1959, it was changed into a tile roof, wooden columns into brick columns, and the second floor was raised. In 1983, it was fully repaired. Covering an area of about 4.95 mu, the main house and ancillary building area is about 2000 square meters. In the courtyard, there are streams, winding paths and many fruit trees, flowers and trees planted by the owner.
In 1987, the former residence of Li Jieren was established to strengthen the protection and management with specialized agencies and personnel. In June 1987, the former residence was officially opened to the public. In 1989, Li Jieren's former residence was selected as one of the "Eight Sights of Chengdu" in the "Chengdu Evening News" selection activity. In 1991, it was announced by the provincial government as a cultural relic protection unit at the provincial level. In 2006, Li Jieren's former residence was renamed as Li Jieren's former residence Museum. In 2012, it was renamed Li Jieren's Former Residence Memorial.
Introduction to Li Jieren
Li Jieren (1891-1962), formerly known as Li Jiaxiang, was born in Huayang, Sichuan (now Chengdu). He is a famous modern Chinese writer, translator, social activist, outstanding newspaper, industrialist and vice mayor of Chengdu. In middle school, I read a lot of Chinese and foreign literary classics and was good at telling stories. In 1912, he published his first work garden party. In 1919, he went to France to study. He was the chief writer of Qun Bao and the chief editor of Chuan Bao. All kinds of translated works amount to 6 million words. His representative novels, stagnant water, before the storm and big waves, are known as the "river Trilogy" in the history of modern Chinese literature. They describe the social reality of China before and after the Sino Japanese War of 1894-1895 and the revolution of 1911 with great brushwork. They are national epics with the color of the times and places. They are also the only series of historical novels in the history of modern Chinese literature that have successfully written the movement of protecting roads in Sichuan and the revolution of 1911 in Sichuan. Therefore, Li Jieren is known as "the real historian of Chengdu" and "the Encyclopedia of Western Sichuan folk customs".
With the efforts of scholars from Li Jieren Research Society and professors from universities in Sichuan, all his works are collected as complete works of Li Jieren (17 volumes, 20 volumes, more than 6 million words), which was published by Sichuan literature and Art Publishing House in September 2011.
