Baihuatan Park

BAIHUATAN park is one of the old parks in Chengdu, with a small area. Poet Du Fu once left a famous sentence here: "a thatched cottage in the west of Wanli Bridge, a hundred flowers pool water is the waves."

The entrance is a 500 year old ginkgo. In the garden, there is Ba Jin's former residence, Minghui garden, with Tibetan couplets on the door and a thousand year old rattan inside. There is also a bonsai area in the park, where you can enjoy all kinds of Sichuan bonsai. In addition, there is a rockery waterfall, which imitates the beautiful scenery of NuoRiLang waterfall and colorful pool in Jiuzhaigou scenic area. After visiting Baihuatan Park, you can also visit the nearby Qingyang palace and Dufu thatched cottage.

Baihuatan Park in Chengdu is located outside Tonghui gate in the west of Chengdu. Xijiao river flows from north to south, and Huanhua River (South River) flows from west to East. The two rivers converge at the northeast corner of Qingyang palace. The water is turbulent, forming a deep pool with swirling white water flowers, namely Baihua Lake today. Baihuatan Park, named Baihuatan, is located in HUANHUAXI scenic spot, Qingyang District, Chengdu.

Development history

According to textual research, the name of Baihua Lake today is the same as that of Baihua Lake in ancient times. The ancient Baihuatan site is located in longzhaoyan, southwest of today's Du Fu thatched cottage. During the Tang and Five Dynasties, it was a famous scenic spot in Chengdu. After the Song Dynasty, the water system changed, and the original pool site had been silted up. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, Huang Yunhu visited the historic site and identified this pool as Baihua pool. In 1881, he erected a stone tablet of "ancient Baihua pool" at Baoyun nunnery on the North Bank of the Qing Dynasty. At the same time, he built a pavilion around the stone tablet for sightseeing. So far, Baihuatan reappeared in the world, and gradually became a famous place.

According to the records of places of interest in Sichuan, there is a Baihua Lake in Huanhua river. Ren, the daughter of the people on the river, has a poor family. She is hardworking and kind-hearted. One day, she washes cassock for the sick monk by the side of the lake, and lotus flowers come out easily. The whole water is covered with flowers, so it is called Baihua Lake. According to historical records: in the west of Huanhua River, Cui Ning, a Duke of Ji state in the Tang Dynasty, turned part of Du Fu's old house into a villa for his wife, Mrs. Ji state (also known as Mrs. Huanhua), to live in after Du Fu left Chengdu. After the rebellion in Sichuan threatened Chengdu, but the governor was unable to quell the rebellion. Mrs. Ji state stepped forward and scattered her family wealth, raised a thousand troops, sent troops to put an end to the chaos, and turned her house into a villa In memory of this outstanding woman in Chengdu, she is honored as "the wife of the state of Ji" and people go to temple fairs around HUANHUAXI every April.

In the 1950s and 1960s, it was Chengdu Zoo, covering an area of more than 80 mu. In order to facilitate tourists and pedestrians, a floating boat cable bridge is built across the pool. In the mid-1960s, the Baihua bridge on the first ring road was completed and the cable bridge was abandoned. In 1975, the zoo moved to the northern suburbs. From 1976 to 1982, Baihuatan Park was renovated and reopened for sightseeing.

At that time, the garden was mainly composed of bonsai garden (Xiyuan), Guoxiang garden, Baihua garden, leiyuan garden, Huiyuan garden, corridor bridge, Lake area and bird and fish gallery.

Today's BAIHUATAN park is connected to the west section of the first ring road in the west, Fanglin road in the south, Nanhe River in the East and Qintai Road in the north. The total area of the park is 81708 square meters (122.56 mu), the green area is 64333 square meters (96.5 mu), the building area of the park is 4358 square meters, the road square area is 5500 square meters, the water area is 7517 square meters (11.21 mu), and the green space rate is 87.94%.

Main attractions

The park is composed of Penjing garden, leiyuan garden, Huiyuan garden, Huchi District, Langqiao, peach blossom forest, gingko forest, osmanthus forest, plum blossom forest and other scenic spots, which has formed its own garden characteristics. The whole park is novel in construction, elegant in layout, luxuriant in flowers and trees, and full of shade of bamboo trees. The artificially created rocks, waterfalls, streams and pavilions are distributed among them, each of which is wonderful and interesting. It reflects the style of "ancient, cultural, quiet and elegant", and makes people feel that the garden is profound and endless.
