618 combat readiness

The station, formerly known as the combat readiness station of Shandong people's broadcasting station, is the largest and best preserved combat readiness station in East China. It was built in the 1960s by General Yang Dezhi, then commander of Jinan Military Region, to meet the needs of national defense. It is located in the north mountain of Eyu village, Lucun Town, Yiyuan County, Zibo City, Shandong Province. With an altitude of 400 meters and a relative altitude of 200 meters, it covers an area of 229 Mu and a transmission power of 50 kW, covering 13 cities and counties including Zibo, Linyi, Weifang and Tai'an. The machine room of the radio station is located in the tunnel in the mountain, with a total length of 470 meters and a construction area of 2820 square meters.

Combat readiness mission

With the passage of time, forty years later, although the 618 radio station no longer undertakes the task of war preparedness, its historical value has become increasingly prominent. In the past few years, the radio station has become a vivid teaching material for the education of revolutionary tradition, national defense and socialist concept of honor and disgrace. Since 2004, Zibo radio and television station has invested a large amount of money to renovate and restore the facilities inside and outside the tunnel, reappearing the historical style of that year. In April 2006, the former scenic spot of 618 combat readiness radio station was approved as the patriotic education base and national defense education base of Zibo City. On April 21, 2006, a grand unveiling ceremony was held in the scenic spot of the former site of 618 combat readiness radio station, which was officially opened to the public after 40 years of dust. At the end of 2006, the scenic spot was approved as a national AAA scenic spot just after it was opened.
