As one of the top ten famous pagodas in Fujian Province, Gutian Jixiang Temple Pagoda was originally in front of the gate of Jixiang temple in the old city. In 1958, due to the construction of the reservoir of Gutianxi hydropower station, it was moved to Shigong mountain in Songtai new city.
The tower was built in the fourth year of the Taiping reign of the Northern Song Dynasty and rebuilt twice during the Dade reign of the Yuan Dynasty and the Chenghua reign of the Ming Dynasty. Later, because of the thunder shock, the tower was tilted. In the 24th year of the Republic of China, master Yuan Ying, who presided over Xuefeng temple, donated money to rebuild it.
The pagoda is a solid stone structure, with a height of 25 meters and a base width of 7.7 meters. It has nine octagonal storeys, a pavilion like Xumi base. Eight martial gods are carved on the octagonal base. There are niches on the eighth floor of the second to ninth floors, with Buddha inside. On both sides of the niches, there are stone carvings of various flowers, plants, fish, insects, birds and animals. The shape is simple and honest. In May 1961, it was announced as a provincial-level cultural relics protection unit, and a protection monument was set up. In 1984, the provincial government funded the construction of octagonal stone guardrail, which was well preserved.
