Historical evolution
In 1758, Luo Ruifeng, the founder of Luo family in Hehu, moved to Longgang, Shenzhen from Xingning, Guangdong Province.
During the reign of Emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty (1736-1795), Luo Ruifeng began to build a new residence in Hehu.
During the reign of Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty (1782-1850), it took more than 40 years to complete the new residence in Hehu after three generations of Luo family.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Luo's village in Hehu was named "Luo Ruihe village" because of Luo's Ruihe business name.
After the reform and opening up, the wealthy descendants of Luo family in Hehu have built new houses nearby and moved out of their new houses. There were thousands of people living in the new house of Hehu. The last descendant of Luo family who lived here was an old woman who lived in wubaohu.
In 1996, Hehu new residence was established as the only folk custom museum in Shenzhen - Longgang Hakka folk custom museum. The Longgang District government invested more than 30 million yuan in the renovation and protection of Hehu new residence.
In 1997, Longgang Hakka folk custom museum, the new residence of Hehu, was built and opened.
In 2010, it took three years, and the protection and repair plan of new residence in Hehu was approved after repeated argumentation by experts. The project started in early 2010 and passed the preliminary acceptance in early September 2010.
On May 5, 2017, the municipal anti-corruption education base of Longgang Hakka folk custom museum was officially unveiled in the new residence of Hehu.
Architectural features
The new residence of Crane Lake combines the essence of Fujian, Jiangxi and Guangdong Hakka round houses. It is a typical representative of Hakka Wai fort in Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
With an area of 15000 square meters and 25000 square meters of Heping and Yuechi, Hehu new residence is one of the largest Hakka residential buildings in China. It is also one of the most complete and representative Hakka dwellings in Shenzhen.
Hehu new residence is a Hakka building with three halls, two horizons, two fences, eight watchtowers and two watchtowers. It consists of 179 units (including one patio, two corridors, one hall and two rooms), with a total of more than 300 rooms,
It can accommodate more than 1000 people at most
. The outside of Hehu new residence is trapezoidal, 165.9 meters wide in front and 111.6 meters wide in back. The wall is about 6 meters high and 1 meter thick and is made of stone, concrete and concrete.
The four corners of the new house are three story turrets, square inside and trapezoidal outside. The turret is a Hakka style tile roof with two slopes and a large flying belt with a vertical ridge. There are passages on the tile surface around the turret (i.e. "zouma corridor"), which makes the buildings separated. The turret, watchtower and the outer wall of the enclosed house have exhaust holes and shooting holes in the shape of gourd and copper coin.
Hehu new residence is built with ancestral hall as the center. In the process of construction, countless fermented and mature Triassic soil are used, which is rammed with glutinous rice pulp, brown sugar water and even egg white as adhesive. Compared with the grand building, the main gate is small, but it contains the wisdom of being easy to defend and difficult to attack. It has four defenses, such as stone gate and fence gate. There are Heping, Yuechi, flagpole stone and ancient banyan trees in front of Hehu new residence. The semi-circular moon pool runs through the Longgang River and nearby streams to form a pool of living water, which can be used for fish culture, irrigation and fire fighting. From the perspective of Feng Shui, the semi-circular moon pool echoes Shangtian street, forming Taiji corresponding to Yin and Yang; the terrain is the lowest, and the drainage in the enclosed house flows into the moon pool through the culvert, making it a huge "treasure bowl"; as opposed to the inner watchtower, the inner watchtower is Yiyan school.
Cultural relics
The plaque of "dafudi" at the main entrance of the ancestral hall of Hehu new residence was given by Emperor Daoguang to Luo Zhaoxiong, the third generation descendant of Luo Ruifeng.
There is a set of sea mirror windows made of shells in the inner wall of the new house. Haijing window is a kind of window screen made of polished thin shell of Li (shell of shellfish) instead of window paper in the southeast coastal area of Ming and Qing Dynasties. The sea mirror window has the characteristics of "light transmission but not light transmission". The sunlight passes through the sea mirror window and filters out the ultraviolet light to form a mild and elegant seven rainbow light, which is not dazzling, but also can prevent the furniture from fading due to sunburn. This group of sea mirror windows is the window with flowers on the upper part of the main gate of a house. It has four windows, with a total length of 2.52 meters and a height of 1.72 meters. The wooden rhombic lattice window frame is embedded with a sea mirror shell grinding plate to wipe away the dust on it. The fish scale shaped shell pieces flicker in the old wooden window frame, sometimes showing seven rainbow lights. The unique ice crack pieces of shells are different.
The banner of the new and old houses in Hehu is engraved with the words "gather people here", which indicates the desire of the Luo family in Hehu to build a fortress and gather people to live there. The ancestral hall is surrounded by the "twenty family precepts" of Luo's ancestors, which are integrated with the concepts of "Thrift", "honesty", "filial piety", "courtesy" and "faithfulness", influencing Luo's thoughts imperceptibly and becoming the strict code of conduct of Luo's family.
In the main entrance building of Hehu new residence, there is a memorial archway style building. On the front, there are four characters of "Qinren is still there", surrounded by colorful and exquisite porcelain carvings. On the back, there are four characters of "Juzu Yusi", hanging on the mountain roof and hanging on the ridge, which are fish tail style. The short eight characters reflect the inner vision of "taking blood and family as the link, and the Luo people live here".
Luo's couplet is hung in the middle hall of the new residence of Hehu: "Ruizheng Luo school extends Yuzhang, Xiangshui exhibition model you, heroes of past dynasties show the history, Fengzhi Longgang plans to become Dongguan, Hehu prospers Xiayu, and has won the world of honor for thousands of years", telling the origin and development of Luo's family in Hehu.
