Xinyu College is a public full-time undergraduate college, located in Xinyu City, Jiangxi Province, a new industrial city. Xinyu has beautiful environment and convenient transportation. Shanghai Kunming high-speed railway and Zhejiang Jiangxi railway run through the East and West, Beijing Kowloon railway runs by the market, and three expressways and four provincial roads of Jiangxi Guangdong, Shanghai Kunming and Wuji meet in Xinyu; Xinyu is a national new energy science and technology demonstration city, a national pilot smart city, a national forest city, a national garden city, a national health city, China's top ten most secure cities, a national intellectual property pilot city, a national energy conservation demonstration city, and a national entrepreneurship training demonstration site city.

The school covers an area of 2000 mu, with a building area of 450000 square meters, 129 Laboratory (training) rooms, teaching and scientific research equipment worth 86.91 million yuan, library collection of 1.4 million books, and rich electronic literature resources. At present, the university has more than 13500 full-time students from all over the country and abroad, including 142 international students. There are 17 secondary colleges and 60 undergraduate and junior colleges. There are more than 20 national teaching reform pilot majors, provincial demonstration majors and provincial characteristic majors, and "material physics and chemistry" of new energy is the key construction discipline of colleges and universities in Jiangxi Province. The University and Xinyu City have jointly built the national quality supervision and Inspection Center for photovoltaic basic materials and applied products, and established three provincial scientific research platforms, including Jiangxi Key Laboratory of silicon materials, Jiangxi Key Laboratory of solar cell materials and devices, and Jiangxi engineering and Technology Research Center for lithium based new materials. The university is a member unit of China University of Applied Technology Alliance, one of the first batch of Pilot Universities in Jiangxi Province to transform into application-oriented universities, one of the first batch of cooperative universities in the ICT industry education integration innovation base jointly built by the Ministry of education and ZTE, and one of the first batch of cooperative universities in the Ministry of education and China soft international "2015 comprehensive reform project of major cooperation and joint fund project of national college students' innovation and entrepreneurship training plan".
