Yangen University

Yangen University was founded in 1987 by the Yangen foundation established by patriotic overseas Chinese Mr. Wu Qingxing and his family. It was approved by the State Education Commission (now the Ministry of Education) as a full-time ordinary university. It was run by Fujian Provincial Government in 1988. In order to meet the needs of national education reform, since July 1994, as a pilot of China's education reform, Yangen university has been run independently by Yangen foundation. Yangen university is the first private university in China to award National Undergraduate Certificate and bachelor's degree.

Yangen university is located in the northern suburb of Quanzhou, a famous historical and cultural city, which is the starting point of the maritime Silk Road. The campus is surrounded by mountains and rivers, with beautiful scenery and elegant environment. The school covers an area of more than 2000 mu, with a building area of 520000 square meters and a stadium area of more than 140000 square meters. All classrooms of the school are equipped with multimedia equipment, which can carry out multimedia teaching; there are advanced network center, computer center, multimedia language classroom, multimedia ladder classroom, multimedia computer classroom, various professional laboratories and large-scale simulation practice base; the school also has a large library to meet the needs of teaching and scientific research and rich students' extracurricular activities It is a cultural and sports center with a capacity of 10000 people, as well as a large number of sports venues. In August 2001 and May 2002, the all China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and the Fujian Provincial Government awarded Yangen university the honorary titles of "patriotic education base of the Federation of overseas Chinese of China" and "patriotic education base of the education system of Fujian Province". In June 2006, Yangen University was awarded the title of "Fujian advanced school of Party building and ideological and political work" by Fujian provincial Party committee.

Yangen University adheres to education reform. As a pilot project of education reform, Yangen university is highly valued by the central leadership, the Ministry of education, the Fujian provincial government and the Provincial Department of education, as well as foreign universities. English Chinese bilingual teaching is implemented in Yangen University. In addition to teaching in strict accordance with various courses stipulated by the Ministry of education, English and computer teaching are especially strengthened. The school employs more than 50 experts and professors from the United States, Britain, Canada and other countries to teach in the school. The school has been offering English courses for four years. The school provides various learning conditions to encourage students to actively participate in the National College English Test Band 4 and band 6 and the National College English major test band 4 and band 8. Since the third grade, the school has set up "professional English class" for all majors. Some of the major courses are taught in English by foreign experts, using the original English textbooks used by foreign universities, and combining English, computer and professional courses.

The school attaches great importance to computer teaching, and all non computer majors must pass the computer grade I and II Examination in Fujian Province. The school requires and encourages students of science and engineering to actively participate in the computer level 2 and level 3 examinations and various computer application examinations, and encourages students of other majors to actively participate in the computer level 2 examination. Students of computer department must master the method of object-oriented programming and the knowledge of network construction.

At present, Yangen university has 5 colleges, 14 departments, 5 departments, 30 majors and more than 14000 undergraduates. With the development of social economy, our school will gradually add new departments and new majors.
