The predecessor of Guangdong police officer college is the Guangdong public security cadre school, which was established in November 1949. Over the past 50 years, the college has experienced the training of political and legal cadres, the secondary and tertiary education of political and legal education, the junior and undergraduate education of public security. At present, it is the first and only public security college in South China.

Over the past 50 years, it has provided more than 100000 political and legal professionals for the society, and is known as the "cradle of police officers in southern Guangdong". 1、 The idea of running a school to serve the construction of public security team

The idea of running a school to serve the construction of the public security team started from the Guangdong public security cadre school in the early days of its establishment. From the single training and education of the public security political and legal cadres to the undergraduate public security education, the idea of running a school has become a solid historical precipitation, a rational understanding sublimation and a theoretical guide for action.

Over the past 50 years, a large number of excellent and qualified senior police professionals have been trained, and they have become the cradle of training new police in South China. Graduates are all over Guangdong, Hainan and Guangxi. Most of them have become the backbone of public security organs, and many of them have become leading cadres at all levels of public security organs. Some of them have grown into models of public security, and some have gone abroad to make contributions to the maintenance of peace.

In addition, the college attaches great importance to on-the-job police training, which is one of the important responsibilities of the college. Especially in recent years, according to the requirements of the Ministry of public security to strengthen the regular construction of the public security team, the college has given full play to its role as a large training base. In the past two years, the training scale has been more than 7000 person times, and the quality of police training and education has been continuously improved, which has made a positive contribution to the construction of the public security team in Guangdong.

2、 Forming a professional system of undergraduate public security education

We should build a professional system to serve the public security work and team building, highlight the characteristics of public security and Guangdong, take law as the basis, economic crime investigation, drug control, police tactics and command as the characteristics, focus on the development of public security, investigation, criminal science and technology, law and other majors, and drive and promote the development of other majors. At present, there are seven undergraduate majors in investigation, public security, economic crime investigation, criminal science and technology, law, administration, computer science and technology.

3、 Teaching content system emphasizing "thick foundation, wide caliber and strong skills"

The "thick foundation" of undergraduate public security professionals emphasizes the basis of moral character, professional theoretical knowledge, humanities and Social Sciences, which forms the basis for the coordinated development of moral quality, scientific and cultural quality and physical and mental quality. In professional education, it emphasizes "wide caliber", which is suitable for both public security work and social work, and has a strong sense of innovation and ability, strong physique and good psychological quality. According to the above requirements, the construction of teaching content system, a total of more than 270 courses, undergraduate set up criminal investigation, economic crime investigation, criminal technology, public security management, computer science and technology, administrative management, law seven majors; college set up criminal investigation, criminal technology, security management, legal, secretary, English six majors. 16 school level key courses, 6 school level excellent courses, 4 provincial level key courses, 3 provincial level excellent courses and 1 ministerial level excellent course were selected. In addition, around the teaching content system, 12 kinds of laboratories have been built, including DNA laboratory, judicial psychological testing laboratory and forensic identification center of material evidence.

Teaching staff and school scale

The college has 297 full-time teachers, including 26 professors and 87 associate professors, accounting for 38% of the total number of teachers. There are 2 postdoctors and 139 doctors and masters, accounting for 46.8% of the total number of teachers.

The "ten thousand ten" project of colleges and universities in Guangdong Province has trained 1 person at the provincial level, 11 at the school level, 4 outstanding young and middle-aged academic backbones and 5 discipline leaders.

Among the professional backbones of public security organs in the whole province, 76 instructors with high educational level, rich practical experience and good at integrating theory with practice were selected to teach in schools.

At present, there are 7078 students, including 3614 undergraduates and 3464 junior college students. The students come from Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Fujian, Sichuan, Guizhou and other regions. At present, there are 458 amateur and correspondence students who are from junior college to junior college.

School running conditions

The total area of the college is 237900 square meters, the value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 28.1 million yuan, and the library data is 551700. The existing sports ground, football court, basketball court, volleyball court, training hall, fight hall, shooting range, police tactical training building and other training venues can meet the needs of teaching and training.

The main campus, Jiahe campus, has completed 11 projects including the overall renovation of the sports ground, police tactical training building, shooting range, student dormitory, student canteen, new teaching building and surrounding ancillary facilities, with a total construction area of 75000 square meters. The police sports training area and student living area have been basically completed. The library (20281 square meters) and swimming pool (5407 square meters) are under construction.

School running achievements

Journal of political science and law is the national excellent journal of Social Sciences and the core journal of Chinese Journal of Humanities and social sciences.

In recent years, the college has continuously strengthened its scientific research work, published more than 90 books and 86 kinds of teaching materials, of which 7 won the first and second prizes of excellent teaching materials of the Ministry of public security. During the "Ninth Five Year Plan" and "Tenth Five Year Plan", he undertook 49 research projects at provincial, bureau and municipal levels and 80 key projects at school level. There are 68 people who hold the academic positions of directors or committee members or above in the national, provincial and above academic organizations.
