Founded in 1958, Tianjin University of traditional Chinese medicine is the chairman of the steering committee of Chinese medicine and medical humanities quality teaching in Colleges and universities of the Ministry of education and the chairman of the Education Steering Committee of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies. It is the only International College of Chinese traditional medicine approved by the Ministry of education. The new campus under construction is located on the Bank of Tuanbo Lake in Jinghai County, Tianjin, covering an area of more than 2600 Mu and a construction area of more than 600000 square meters. It will become the largest museum and botanical garden of traditional Chinese medicine in China, the most advanced science and Technology Park of traditional Chinese medicine and the international education center of traditional Chinese medicine in China. The school has 13 colleges and 3 departments. Education and teaching, scientific research, medical services and international exchanges are all among the advanced institutions of the same kind in China.

The university has six disciplines, 26 undergraduate majors, more than 8000 undergraduate students, 3500 master and doctoral students, and more than 2000 international students and overseas Chinese from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
