West China Normal University

West China Normal University was founded in 1946, and its birth has a direct historical origin with Northeast University. In 1937, when the Anti Japanese war broke out, Northeast University moved to Santai County, Sichuan Province. After the victory of the Anti Japanese war in 1945, Northeastern University moved back to Shenyang, leaving behind Sichuan Teachers and students to establish a private North Sichuan College of agriculture and engineering at the original site of Santai. In 1949, private North Sichuan College of agriculture and technology merged with Xishan academy founded by famous Mohist expert Wu feibai to form private North Sichuan University. In 1950, the University moved to Nanchong and merged with North Sichuan University of arts to form a public North Sichuan University. In 1952, the national colleges and departments were adjusted, and Sichuan Normal University was established by merging some specialties of East Sichuan Institute of Education (former rural construction college), Sichuan University and West China University. In 1956, the school was divided into two parts, and the part left in Nanchong was Nanchong normal college. In 1958, the school changed its name to Nanchong Normal University. In 1989, the name of Sichuan Normal University was restored. On April 16, 2003, with the approval of the Ministry of education, the University changed its name to "West China Normal University". After more than 70 years of development, the school has accumulated the school motto spirit of "diligence, realism, dedication and innovation", the education concept of "casting the soul, encouraging teaching and cultivating education", the school running concept of "building the school by teaching, strengthening the school by scientific research and characteristic famous school", and the campus spirit of "strict management, rigorous study, hard struggle and pioneering spirit". The university is a comprehensive university characterized by teacher education. It has 10 disciplines, including literature, history, education, science, engineering, agriculture, management, economics, law and art, with outstanding strength and advantages. Ecology, politics, Chinese language and literature, pedagogy, history, Marxist theory, astronomy, chemistry and other characteristic and advantageous disciplines of the University have an important influence in China. Among them, ecology and ecological governance, politics and grassroots governance have been included in the first-class discipline construction plan of Sichuan Province.
