Yangling Vocational and technical college is a provincial public full-time college approved by the Ministry of education in September 1999, which is a combination of Shaanxi agricultural school, Shaanxi water conservancy school and Shaanxi forestry school. The history of the college can be traced back to the national northwest agriculture and forestry college founded by Mr. Yu Youren and General Yang Hucheng in 1934. In the course of more than 70 years of development, more than 70000 professional and technical talents have been trained, which has made important contributions to the economic development of Shaanxi and even the northwest region. In 2001, the Ministry of education identified it as one of the 31 national key demonstration vocational and technical colleges. In 2005, it was rated as an excellent school in the evaluation of talent cultivation in higher vocational colleges. It has been successively rated as "national advanced unit of prospering agriculture through science and education", provincial "civilized campus", "Shaanxi top ten model units of running schools in good faith", "Shaanxi model schools of running schools according to law", "Shaanxi advanced unit of learning organization", and advanced collective of employment work in Colleges and universities in Shaanxi Province. The college is located in Yangling agricultural hi tech demonstration zone, China Agricultural Science City, with three campuses in the south, West and North, covering an area of 1595 mu, including 1000 mu. The building area of the school is 355000 square meters, the total value of fixed assets is 243 million yuan, and the value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 69.3 million yuan. It has 56 experimental and training rooms, 9 on campus training bases and 50 off campus training bases. At present, the college has more than 14000 full-time students, 810 teaching staff, including 33 professors, 127 associate professors and 280 teachers with "double teacher" quality. There are a number of industry skill appraisal stations set up by the Ministry of labor and social security, the Ministry of agriculture and other four ministries and commissions, and National College English, computer grade examination centers, which can undertake 143 occupation (type of work) skill appraisal tasks.

Adhering to the road of combination of industry, University and research, the college has formed a distinctive school running feature of "serving agriculture, rural areas and farmers, relying on the project to build bases, relying on the co construction of bases as a platform, creating a new mode of combination of industry, University and research". In practice, the college has explored five effective modes of combination of industry, University and research, including technical service, base demonstration, economic common type, joint-stock cooperation and company driven type. The new wheat variety "Wunong 148" bred by the college has been promoted to 20 million mu in Huanghe, Huaihe and Haimai regions, and won the second prize of science and technology in Shaanxi Province in 2005; the new chrysanthemum variety "yuhumei" has passed the provincial variety examination and approval; the new chemical control seed soaking technology of melons and vegetables ranks the leading level in China, and its product "Youbi" seed soaking agent has won the national patent. The college has won one national teaching achievement award, one provincial first prize and five second prizes. The college's exploration and practice of "higher vocational education objective teaching system (OES)" won the national teaching achievement award. Water conservancy and hydropower engineering construction, biotechnology and application were identified as the national teaching reform pilot majors, while landscape engineering, animal husbandry and veterinary, economic management, operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment, horticultural technology, operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment were identified as the provincial teaching reform pilot majors. "Soil and plant nutrition", "irrigation and water conservancy", "biochemistry" and other 10 courses were rated as excellent courses of provincial and Industrial Education Commission.
