Changchun University, located in Changchun City, Jilin Province, is a provincial full-time comprehensive university. There are three campuses with a total area of 1.03 million square meters. The predecessor of the school is Changchun Industrial Accounting and statistics school founded by the former Ministry of industry of Northeast People's Government in 1949. In 1987, with the approval of the former National Education Commission, the former Jilin University of science and technology, Jilin College of mechanical and electrical engineering, Changchun foreign language college and Changchun Vocational University merged to form changchununiversity. In August 2000, the former Jilin forestry school was merged into Changchun University.

At present, the university has 20 teaching departments, 50 undergraduate majors, 3 first-class disciplines authorized by master's degree, and 2 master's degree authorization points. The school covers economics, law, education, literature, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management and art. There are 15811 full-time students. The comprehensive school running conditions are excellent, and the basic facilities are complete. At present, the total value of fixed assets of the school is 563 million yuan. The library is an advanced library in Jilin Province, with 1.54 million paper books, 600000 electronic books and 14 Chinese and foreign language databases. The school has four Pavilions: Special Education Exhibition Hall, national soybean deep processing technology exhibition hall, Shaman culture museum and biological specimen exhibition hall. Founded in 1987, the Institute of special education has created a precedent for the disabled to receive higher education in China. It has constructed the undergraduate talent training system of higher special education and filled the gap of higher education in China.

The school has 862 full-time teachers, including 113 senior teachers, 282 deputy senior teachers and 96 graduate tutors. At present, the school has 56 experts with various honorary titles, including young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions from the state, senior experts from Jilin Province, new century talents from the Ministry of education, distinguished professors from Changbaishan, young and middle-aged professional and technical talents with outstanding contributions from Jilin Province.

In the selection of national and provincial teaching achievement awards, the school has won 4 national awards and 39 provincial awards. The university has national soybean deep processing technology research and promotion center, Jilin Branch of National Soybean Engineering Technology Research Center, national visually impaired higher education resource center, Jilin disabled rehabilitation equipment and technology innovation center, Key Laboratory of agricultural products processing biotechnology in Jilin Province, Key Laboratory of material design and quantum simulation in Jilin Province, and Key Laboratory of agricultural products processing biotechnology in Jilin Province Research platforms include the key research base of philosophy and Social Sciences in Jilin Province of Manchu culture, the research base of Humanities in special education institutions of higher learning in Jilin Province, the Engineering Laboratory of soybean processing biotechnology in Jilin Province Development and Reform Commission, and the research base of cultural industry in Jilin Province.

Since the 12th Five Year Plan, the university has undertaken 721 national, provincial and bureau level scientific research projects, including National Natural Science Foundation project, national social science planning fund project, science and technology planning project of the Ministry of education, humanities and social science planning project of the Ministry of education, culture and art science research project of the Ministry of culture, project of the State General Administration of sports, science and technology plan of Jilin Province, and social science planning of Jilin Province. Two of them were selected into the new century talents support program of the Ministry of education. More than 3000 academic papers have been published. 439 papers were indexed by SCI and EI, and 142 papers were indexed by CSSCI. More than 40 academic monographs and translations have been published. It has applied for more than 50 national invention patents, obtained 27 authorized patents and 109 scientific research awards at or above the provincial and ministerial level.

The school attaches importance to the cultivation of distinctive campus culture. At present, the school has a total of 128 student organizations, rich and colorful after-school cultural life, to meet the students' interests and hobbies. The students won 4 silver awards, 6 bronze awards, 1 first prize and 1 second prize in the national "Challenge Cup". In the national college students climbing Championships and other science and technology sports competitions at home and abroad, it has repeatedly achieved good results. In 2012, visually impaired student Zhou Guohua won the championship in the women's 100m T12 final of the London Paralympic Games and broke the world record. The university has won the first prize in the National College Students' art performance for four consecutive times. The University adheres to open and international education, actively carries out international cooperation and exchange, and vigorously develops the education of international students in China. At present, it has the qualifications of Chinese government scholarship, Confucius Institute Scholarship and Jilin provincial government scholarship to receive international students in China. More than 2000 students from 20 countries including Russia, South Korea, Japan, Tajikistan and Spain have been recruited to study in the University. The university has carried out multi-level Sino foreign cooperation in running schools. It has cooperated with Russia's Baltic state University of technology and Volgograd national social normal university to hold undergraduate level Sino foreign cooperation in running schools; it has cooperated with Spain's Almeria University and South Korea's Shiming university to hold college level Sino foreign cooperation in running schools. The school and Shengquan University of Japan launched a "2 + 2" joint training program. The university has signed an exchange and cooperation agreement with eight universities in Taiwan. Every year, students are sent to Zhongyuan University, Nantai University of science and technology and other universities in Taiwan for short-term exchanges. In 2014, the Confucius Institute established by the University in cooperation with Ryazan National University of Russia won the honorary title of "advanced Confucius Institute" in the world. Authorized by the "Russian world" foundation, the school has established the Russian Center of blagoveshinsk National Normal University. China (Ministry of Education) study abroad service center has set up a training base in Russia. In recent years, the university has hired 190 foreign experts and scholars to give lectures and teach in the University, and selected discipline leaders, backbone teachers and excellent management cadres to visit and study abroad.
