Guilin University of Electronic Science and technology is located in Guilin, a famous scenic city in the world and a famous historical and cultural city in China. It is a University jointly built by the Ministry of industry and information technology and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, a University selected by the national "Midwest university basic capacity building project" and a key construction university in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Sun Jiadong, chief designer of China lunar exploration project, winner of the highest national science and Technology Award and academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, is the honorary president of the University.

Founded in 1960, Guilin Institute of electronic technology was established with the approval of the State Council in 1980 and renamed Guilin University of Electronic Science and technology in 2006. The school has been subordinate to the fourth Ministry of mechanical industry, the Ministry of electronic industry, the Ministry of mechanical and electronic industry, China Electronics Industry Corporation and the Ministry of information industry. In 2000, the management system was transformed into the central and local co construction, with local management as the main task. In 1990, Comrade Jiang Zemin, then general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, visited the school in person and wrote an inscription for the school "to train more qualified talents for the development of electronic industry".

The school has Jinjiling campus, Liuhe Road Campus, Huajiang campus and Beihai Campus (Higher Vocational Education), which are respectively located in Guilin National High Tech Development Zone, Yaoshan scenic area of Guilin city and Yinhai District of Beihai City, with a total area of 4153 mu. The building area of the school library is more than 45000 square meters. There are 1.864 million paper books, 1.508 million e-books, 32 high-quality foreign language academic databases, 42 Chinese databases, and 34997 Chinese and foreign language journals (including e-journals). It has advanced network information platform and smart campus platform.

The discipline school has 63 undergraduate majors, including one national comprehensive reform pilot major, five national characteristic majors, and one engineering education certified major. At present, there are three national excellent courses, one national bilingual teaching demonstration course, and two national excellent resource sharing courses. The school has obtained 9 kinds of national planning textbooks for the 11th Five Year Plan and the 12th Five Year Plan. The university has won 4 national teaching achievement awards of higher education.

At present, the university has 1 post doctoral research mobile station, 3 first-class discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 11 first-class discipline master's degree authorization points, 3 second-class discipline master's degree authorization points not covered by the first-class discipline, and 5 Master's degree authorization points, including engineering, business administration, accounting, law and Translation, including 11 engineering master's degree authorization fields.

There are more than 2600 teaching staff in the school. Among the teachers, there are 1 candidate from the "Thousand Talents Program" of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, 1 distinguished professor from the "Yangtze River scholars", 5 winners from the national fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 4 candidates from the national "ten million talents project", 1 national outstanding professional and technical talent, 2 national outstanding scientific and technological workers, 36 experts with special allowance from the State Council, 4 candidates from the "Hundred Talents Program" of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and 4 candidates from the "New Century Excellent Talents Program" of the Ministry of education There are four candidates for the talent support program, eight Guangxi scholars, seven excellent experts, four specially invited experts and ten famous teachers in Guangxi. Among the teachers are one vice chairman and five members of the Undergraduate Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of education. There are 2 national teaching teams, 10 autonomous regional teaching teams, 3 talent Highlands in Guangxi and 3 innovation teams in Guangxi universities.

At present, the school has more than 36000 full-time students. The school is the Ministry of education excellent engineer education and training plan University, the national college students innovative experimental plan implementation university, the Ministry of Education College English teaching reform demonstration point school, the school is the national defense students training unit, the army frontier soldiers children preparatory training unit. At present, there are 1 National Talent Training Mode Innovation Experimental Zone, 5 national experimental teaching demonstration centers, 2 national engineering practice teaching centers, 1 National College Students' off campus practice education base, 1 national first batch of College Students' "Xiaoping science and technology innovation team", 1 professional studio support unit of National Communist Youth League new media operation center, and 1 National College Students' off campus practice education base; Ministry of Education College Students Network Culture Studio 1.

The university has the first batch of College Students' innovation and entrepreneurship practice bases in China, and the college students' innovation and practice base is named "National Youth Science and technology innovation demonstration base" by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the all China Youth Federation. The school was rated as "2012-2014 national innovation and entrepreneurship training plan implementation advanced unit". Students in the national college students electronic design competition, innovative design, mathematical modeling and other competitions, won the highest award of national college students electronic design competition "Sony Cup".

The scientific research school has undertaken the national science and technology major support program, the national "973" key project, the National 863 program major project, the National Natural Science Foundation key project, the National Natural Science Foundation major instrument special project, the National Natural Science Foundation general project, the national key research and development plan, the National Social Science Foundation special entrustment project and so on. In recent five years, 306 national scientific research projects have been added, 2060 SCI and EI papers have been published, and 112 academic works have been published. The university has been engaged in national defense scientific research for a long time. It is one of the 30 universities targeted by the communication equipment pre research project of the General Armament Department and one of the universities authorized by Beidou ICD. It has undertaken military scientific research projects such as "973 Plan", military models, advanced weapons and equipment, and key technologies of national defense. In the past five years, the university has won 83 provincial and ministerial awards for scientific research achievements.

The science and Technology Park of Guilin University of Electronic Science and technology was approved as the National University Science and Technology Park in 2014, and the crowdsourcing space of University Science and Technology Park was approved as the "national crowdsourcing space". At present, the school has one Guangxi platform of "national software and integrated circuit public service platform"; one key laboratory of the Ministry of education; seven Guangxi Key Laboratories; three Guangxi 2011 collaborative innovation center and cultivation base; six Guangxi Engineering Technology Research Center; one Guangxi Information Science Experiment Center; and three Guangxi humanities and social sciences research bases.

The school has established good cooperative relations with more than 80 universities and academic institutions in Asia, Europe, America, Oceania and Africa. Every year, the University selects some excellent students to go to overseas universities for further study, and long-term recruits students to China. The university is the training unit of the Ministry of education's "Chinese Government Scholarship" and "Guangxi government scholarship for overseas students from ASEAN countries". It has Sino French, Sino Irish, Sino British and other Sino foreign exchange projects.
