Tsinghua University is a famous institution of higher learning in China. It is located in the beautiful Tsinghua garden in the northwest suburb of Beijing. It is one of the important bases for high-level personnel training and scientific and technological research in China.
Tsinghua University, formerly known as Tsinghua School, was founded in 1911 as a preparatory school for studying in the United States established by the Qing government. In 1912, it changed its name to Tsinghua University. In order to try to cultivate talents locally, it set up a university department in 1925, opened a Research Institute (Sinology) in the same year, changed its name to "National Tsinghua University" in 1928, and opened a research institute in the autumn of 1929. After the outbreak of the Anti Japanese war in 1937, he moved south to Changsha and established the national Changsha temporary university with Peking University and Nankai University. In 1938, he moved to Kunming and renamed it the National Southwest United University. In 1946, Tsinghua University moved back to the original site of Qinghua garden, with five colleges and 26 departments of Arts, law, science, engineering and agriculture.
In 1952, after the adjustment of colleges and departments, Tsinghua University became a multidisciplinary university of technology, focusing on the cultivation of engineering and technical talents for the country, known as the "cradle of engineers". Since 1978, Tsinghua University has entered a new period of vigorous development, gradually restored the disciplines of science, economics, management and liberal arts, and established a graduate school and a college of continuing education. In 1999, the former Central Academy of Arts and crafts was merged into Tsinghua University. With the strong support of the state and the Ministry of education, and the implementation of "211 Project" and "985 plan", Tsinghua University has reached a new level in discipline construction, personnel training, teaching staff, scientific research and overall school running conditions. At present, Tsinghua University has 13 colleges and 54 departments. It has become a comprehensive and research-oriented university with disciplines of science, engineering, literature, art, history, philosophy, economics, management, law, education and medicine.

In 2000, the Institute of civil engineering and water conservancy was established on the basis of existing departments and institutes of civil engineering and water conservancy
Establishing the school of public administration on the basis of the Department of Public Administration
The medical college was established in 2001
In 2002, the school of Journalism and communication was established on the basis of the Department of communication
In 2003, Huaxin hospital (former Jiuxianqiao hospital) and Yuquan hospital, formerly affiliated to the Ministry of information industry, were formally merged into the hospital
In April 2004, it was officially listed as the First Affiliated Hospital and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Tsinghua University
In 2004, the Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics was established on the basis of Engineering Mechanics Department and aerospace technology research center
