Zhejiang Conservatory of music is a public full-time undergraduate university officially established by the Ministry of education on March 1, 2016. It mainly focuses on undergraduate education and undertakes the task of postgraduate training. It is organized by the people's Government of Zhejiang Province, under the management of the Provincial Department of culture, and jointly constructed by the Zhejiang provincial government and the Ministry of culture.

The college is located in Zhijiang District, Xihu District, Hangzhou city. It is planned and designed according to the scale of 5000 full-time students. It covers an area of 602 Mu and has a building area of 360000 square meters. It has teaching instruments and equipment with a total value of 149 million yuan, a total of 253000 paper books, 1 Grand Theater, 3 concert halls, 3 theatres, 102 rehearsal halls, 842 piano rooms and 6 recording studios, as well as modern e-book system, information platform system and data center. Based on the overall transfer of the Conservatory of music of Hangzhou Normal University, the college has four first-class disciplines: art theory, music and dance, drama and film and television, and design. It has signed cooperative school running agreements with Mozart Conservatory of music in Salzburg, Austria, Royal Conservatory of music, Royal Northern Conservatory of music and Shanghai Conservatory of music, and jointly initiated the establishment of "China Central and Eastern European countries music school alliance" with 15 music schools in central and Eastern European countries, including Liszt University of music in Hungary, to carry out international and domestic cooperation and exchanges. Approved by the Ministry of education, it has the independent enrollment qualification of undergraduate art colleges and universities, and faces the national enrollment. There are 2467 students (including joint training), including 210 graduate students. At present, there are 457 teaching staff, including 321 full-time teachers (42 with senior professional titles).
