Yanshan University

Yanshan University is a national key university jointly built by the people's Government of Hebei Province, the Ministry of education, the Ministry of industry and information technology and the State Administration of science, technology and industry for national defense, a national first-class university and a world-class discipline construction university supported by Hebei Province, and a member of Beijing High Tech University Alliance.

The school originated from Harbin Institute of technology and was founded in 1920. In 1958, the heavy machinery department and related majors of Harbin Institute of technology moved to Fulaerji District of Qiqihar City, an important industrial town, and established the Heavy Machinery College of Harbin Institute of technology. In 1960, it ran an independent school, named Northeast Heavy Machinery Institute, and became a university directly under the former Ministry of machinery industry. In 1978, it was designated as a national key university. From 1985 to 1997, the whole school moved to Qinhuangdao city. In 1997, it was renamed Yanshan University with the approval of the former State Education Commission. In 1998, it was transferred from the former Ministry of machinery industry to Hebei Province, where the central government and local governments jointly built the project, with Hebei Province as the main management. In 2016, as one of the two universities selected by the Ministry of education, the national certification of engineering major of the University was observed and inspected by international experts of the Washington Agreement, which supported China's formal accession to the international organization for engineering education of the Washington Agreement.

The school covers an area of 4000 mu, with a construction area of 1.06 million square meters. At present, there are 3200 teaching staff, including 2200 full-time teachers, 459 professors (including 200 doctoral supervisors) and 682 associate professors. At present, there are 38000 students in general higher education.

The university has 11 postdoctoral mobile stations, 11 first-class disciplines for doctoral degree, 28 first-class disciplines for master degree, 10 professional master degree categories, 17 Engineering Master degree fields and 62 undergraduate majors. It has formed a discipline pattern with engineering as the main subject and 9 disciplines including literature, science, economics, management, law, art, philosophy and pedagogy developing together; It has 5 national key disciplines, 4 national defense characteristic disciplines and 16 provincial key disciplines. Engineering and materials science are among the top 1% of ESI in the world.

The university has a graduate school and 20 colleges, namely, School of mechanical engineering, School of materials science and engineering, School of electrical engineering, School of information science and engineering, School of software, School of economic management, School of foreign languages, School of architectural engineering and mechanics, School of Arts and law, School of public management, School of Marxism, School of science, School of environmental and chemical engineering, and School of art and design College, vehicle and energy college, sports college, Liren college, national defense science and Technology College, International Education College and continuing education college.

The university has established the State Key Laboratory of "metastable material preparation technology and science", the National Engineering Technology Research Center of "cold rolling strip equipment and technology", the national and local joint engineering research center of "advanced manufacturing and forming technology and equipment", the national defense key subject laboratory of "mechanical structure and material science under extreme conditions", the international science and technology cooperation base, and the national technology transfer demonstration center In addition, there are National University Science Park and Yanshan University Press.

The school has international advanced level in heavy machinery complete equipment, metastable material science and technology, parallel robot theory and technology, fluid transmission and electro-hydraulic servo control technology, industrial automation control theory and technology, precision plastic forming technology, forging process and heat treatment technology of large forgings, mechanical structure and material science under extreme conditions, etc. Since 2000, the university has successively won 16 national science and technology awards, including 2 first prizes, 9 second prizes, 2 second prizes of national technological invention and 3 second prizes of National Natural Science. It has undertaken more than 800 projects of "973", "863", NSFC and NSFC. In 2013 and 2014, the University selected two scientific research achievements into the "top ten scientific progress in China" and "top ten scientific and technological progress in Chinese universities".

The University actively carries out international academic exchanges and cooperation, and has established friendly cooperative relations with 59 international high-level universities and scientific research institutions in 19 countries and regions, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Germany, Russia, Ukraine, Ireland, South Korea, Japan, etc., sending visiting scholars to conduct joint research.
