Beijing Union University is a comprehensive general university established in 1985 with the approval of the Ministry of education. It is responsible for cultivating high-quality applied talents to meet the needs of the country, especially the economic and social development of the capital. After more than 30 years of construction and development, the comprehensive strength of the university has been significantly enhanced, forming 10 disciplines including economics, law, education, arts, history, science, engineering, medicine, management and art It is a comprehensive talent training system with mutual support and coordinated development, mainly undergraduate education and coordinated development of graduate education, higher vocational education and continuing education. It is a key applied talent training base in Beijing and one of the largest universities in Beijing.

The school of special education of Beijing Union University was founded in September 2000. It is the first comprehensive school of special education in China. At present, the college has 95 staff and 921 students, covering an area of 38 mu, a building area of 36348 square meters, and a library collection of 110000 books.

The college has special education department, medicine and music department, and Applied Technology Department, with 10 specialties, including 6 undergraduate specialties, namely special education specialty, preschool education specialty, visual communication design specialty (hearing impaired), computer science and Technology Specialty (hearing impaired), acupuncture and massage specialty (visual impaired), musicology specialty (visual impaired); and 4 Higher Vocational Specialties, namely hearing and language rehabilitation Major in technology, visual communication art design (hearing-impaired), computer application technology (hearing-impaired) and landscape technology (hearing-impaired). The major involves pedagogy, literature, engineering, medicine, agriculture and other disciplines, including 8 majors for national enrollment.

The college has a high-quality teaching staff, of which 38.2% are professors and associate professors, and 82.4% are doctors and masters. The college has high standard modern comprehensive building, experimental building and student dormitory building. Teaching hardware conditions are complete, with advanced Apple computer room and other professional laboratories, computer network systems and a variety of audio-visual, multimedia teaching equipment. Well equipped gymnasium, track and field field, dance classroom, piano room and student activity center provide conditions for improving students' comprehensive quality. In addition, in cooperation with social units and groups, the college has established student training bases in many provinces and cities in China, which provides guarantee for cultivating students' professional quality and skills and helps to improve students' employment competitiveness. At the same time, a special resource center is set up to assist the teaching of the disabled.

Since its establishment, the college has been concerned and supported by leaders at all levels and all walks of life. Xu Jialu, then vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Deng Pufang, chairman of the China Disabled Persons' Federation, Xu Xi'an, Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Standing Committee of the CPC, Zhu Shanlu, and fan Boyuan, vice mayor of the college, have given great support and help to the construction and development of the college. Liu Limin, Vice Minister of Education (then director of Beijing Municipal Education Commission), Ding Xiangyang, Deputy Secretary General of the State Council (then vice mayor of Beijing), and Zhao Fengtong, member and Secretary General of the Standing Committee of Beijing Municipal Party committee and Secretary General of Beijing municipal politics and Law Commission, have also come to our university many times to study and solve the problems encountered in the development of special education college. After several years of efforts, the college has made great progress: it has undertaken a number of national, provincial and ministerial special education and education for the disabled in cooperation with foreign and domestic industries; it has implemented the policy of single examination and single enrollment for adult disabled for the first time in China, opened up a new way of lifelong education for the disabled, and filled the gap of continuing education in the education system for the disabled.

The college actively carries out international cooperation in running schools and academic and cultural exchange activities, which promotes the development of the college. With the University of Nazareth in South Korea, Japan's Tsukuba University of technology to form a sister school. Become a member of the International Deaf higher education network (pen project). In 2011, it also cooperated with the University of rohampton in the UK in running preschool education; and with the University of Collider in the United States, it tried to develop the form of cooperative education for hearing-impaired students, which further broadened the channels of international cooperation in higher education for the disabled.

On the basis of persisting in teaching oriented, we should strive to enrich students' after-school life and make them develop comprehensively in literature, sports, science and technology, etc. The first art troupe of disabled college students in Beijing was established, and won the gold medal in the sixth art performance competition of Beijing special education school in 2011. As the talent pool and training base for disabled athletes in Beijing, the college has trained disabled athletes, which have become the backbone of disabled sports activities in Beijing and the whole country. At the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games, four students participated in the competition as athletes of the Chinese delegation and achieved excellent results of three gold medals and one silver medal. The 2012 London Paralympic Games have achieved excellent results of one gold and one silver. Jiang Xintian, a deaf college student, acted as a torch collector at the launching ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games torch collection and torch relay. On behalf of 83 million disabled people in China and 600 million disabled people in the world, he ignited his own Olympic flame. In the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games for the disabled, our students won five gold and one silver; in the 2011 Eighth National Games for the disabled, they won five gold, six silver and nine bronze, as well as a number of top six good results. The college hosted the promotion meeting of the fourth national college students' advertising art competition in 2011, and won two bronze awards of the painting group and the special award of the creative group in the "painting group" and "creative group" of the 2011 China International Nail Art Invitational Competition. Hearing impaired student Li Yuxi was elected as the Microsoft campus brand ambassador of Microsoft's "windows" brand communication activities for global college students.

The college is the "national vocational education teacher training base for the disabled" and "national special art talent training base" established by China Disabled Persons' Federation, the "Beijing special education center" established by Beijing Municipal Education Commission, the "Beijing sports training base for the disabled" and the "training base for young actors for the disabled" established by Beijing Disabled Persons' Federation. The college is also the Secretary General unit of the special education research branch of the Chinese society of higher education and the special education branch of the Chinese society of education.

College is located in the South Second Ring Road jade bridge, north of the temple of Heaven Park, convenient transportation. Enrollment is based in Beijing and oriented to the whole country. Tuition fees are subject to the unified national standards, and prizes and grants are set up. Students from poor families can enjoy the national student loan.
