Beijing University of traditional Chinese Medicine

Founded in 1956, Beijing University of traditional Chinese medicine is one of the earliest Chinese medicine universities in the people's Republic of China. It is the only University of traditional Chinese medicine that has entered the national "211 Project". On July 31, 2000, the former Beijing University of traditional Chinese medicine and the former Beijing College of acupuncture and orthopedics merged to form a new Beijing University of traditional Chinese medicine, and became a key university directly under the management of the Ministry of education. At present, the school has a number of teaching institutions, including basic medical college, College of traditional Chinese medicine, College of acupuncture and moxibustion, College of management, College of nursing, International College, College of distance education, College of continuing education, College of clinical medicine, College of Arts and law, Department of traditional Chinese medicine of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao. The school is committed to building a new century oriented talent training system with high-level education as the main body. At present, it has nine majors, including traditional Chinese medicine, Chinese medicine, pharmaceutical engineering, acupuncture and massage, public utilities management (Health Management), Business Administration (traditional Chinese medicine enterprise management), nursing, English (Medicine) and Law (medicine and health). Among them, the seven-year program of traditional Chinese medicine includes nine training courses, including scientific research, acupuncture and promotion of foreign exchange, and integration of Chinese and Western medicine, which are jointly trained with Nankai University, Tsinghua University, Beijing Normal University, Sino Japanese Friendship Hospital, etc. As of September 2003, there are 16160 students, including 5950 junior college students, 688 master's students, 356 doctoral students, 758 international students from 41 countries and regions, 416 students from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao, 4897 distance education students and 3095 continuing education students. Our university is one of the first units to establish doctoral discipline and post doctoral research mobile station in Chinese medicine colleges and universities. Three first-class disciplines of traditional Chinese medicine, traditional Chinese medicine and integrated Chinese and Western medicine all have the right to confer doctoral degrees, and all have post doctoral research mobile stations. At present, the university has 6 national key disciplines, 10 ministry and bureau level key disciplines, and 3 Beijing key disciplines. The construction of key disciplines has maintained a leading position in the National Colleges of traditional Chinese medicine. At present, the university has one key laboratory of the Ministry of education, two key laboratories of Beijing and two key research laboratories of the State Administration of traditional Chinese medicine. The university is a national science talent training base and a national life science and technology talent training base. It has built "Engineering Research Center for key technologies of traditional Chinese medicine pharmacy and new drug development of the Ministry of education" and "online cooperation research center for modernization of traditional Chinese medicine of colleges and universities of the Ministry of education", and jointly built "National University Science and Technology Park" with Beijing Normal University. Founded in 1958, the affiliated Dongzhimen Hospital is the base of clinical teaching, medical treatment and scientific research. After nearly half a century of hard work, it has developed into a comprehensive third class a hospital with strong medical teaching and research force, complete departments, perfect equipment, strong comprehensive service ability and special characteristics of TCM. The affiliated Dongfang Hospital was opened in 1999. It has been built into a state-level modern comprehensive hospital of traditional Chinese medicine with beautiful environment, reasonable layout, advanced equipment, optimized talents, scientific management, first-class medical level, outstanding characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine and comprehensive service function. Founded in 1958, the pharmaceutical factory has strong technical force, complete production equipment and advanced technology, and has passed the GMP certification of small dose injection. Since 1992, Qingkailing injection, its key product, has been approved as the first choice essential drug for emergency treatment in Chinese medicine hospitals for three times in a row. Over the past 48 years, the school has trained more than 20000 TCM professionals at all levels for the country and 2342 TCM professionals for 87 countries and regions in the world. In recent years, the university has established 40 cooperation projects with 19 countries and regions of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and established teaching branches and medical institutions with universities and academic groups in 12 countries and regions. The university has sponsored the national first-class academic journals Journal of Beijing University of traditional Chinese medicine, Journal of Beijing University of traditional Chinese medicine (clinical edition of traditional Chinese Medicine) and Journal of traditional Chinese medicine education, which is an important garden for academic exchange of traditional Chinese medicine.
