Baotou Iron and steel vocational and Technical College

Baotou Iron and steel vocational and technical college is located in the center of Baotou. In 2005, it was funded by Baotou Iron and steel (Group) Co., Ltd., a state-owned super large enterprise. With the approval of the people's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the record of the Ministry of education, it was established as a public full-time ordinary university.

At present, the college mainly focuses on Higher Vocational Education and has the function of secondary vocational education. At the same time, it offers adult college and undergraduate correspondence education. There are 11 teaching units including metallurgy and chemical engineering department, mechanical engineering department, numerical control engineering department, electrical engineering department, computer information management department, construction engineering department, economic management department, accounting and finance department, social science department, basic department and adult education department. It has 22 specialties, covering metallurgy, mechanical and electrical, computer, construction, logistics, accounting and other specialties closely related to local industries.

There are more than 13000 square meters of experimental training places, including 5 training workshops, 56 professional laboratories, 4 simulation training rooms, 10 simulation training systems and 5 comprehensive assessment laboratories. Relying on national backbone iron and steel enterprises and Baotou Steel, the world's largest rare earth research and production base, the college has established more than 40 off campus practice bases with stable cooperation.

At present, the college has more than 7000 students, 542 teaching staff and 139 teachers with associate professor or above. Many teachers have served as directors and members of relevant academic committees of the state and autonomous region. The college gives full play to the advantages of enterprises, relies on enterprise resources, develops characteristic specialties, takes service as the purpose, takes employment as the guidance, takes ability as the standard, cultivates high-quality skilled talents, and walks out a road of combining work with study.
