Yongzhou vocational and technical college is a national public higher vocational and technical college approved by the people's Government of Hunan Province in July 2000. The college covers an area of 4019 mu, with a construction area of more than 400000 square meters, a fixed asset value of more than 500 million yuan and a collection of more than 830000 books. At present, there are more than 1100 in-service teaching staff, including 79 with senior titles and 287 with deputy senior titles. It has set up 43 Higher Vocational Majors, covering agriculture, medical and health, commerce and trade, science and engineering, humanities and economic management, with 18000 students. Since its establishment, the college has always adhered to the service-oriented and employment oriented development path of combining production, teaching and research, and has been committed to cultivating high skilled professionals and high-quality workers for local economic and social development. It has formed a distinctive school running characteristics and achieved remarkable school running achievements. The college has been awarded the honorary titles of National Excellent College of higher vocational talents training, national advanced unit of vocational education, civilized university of Hunan Province, advanced unit of employment work of Hunan Province, and the first batch of provincial demonstration base for staff training of small and medium-sized enterprises. In 2002, the national higher vocational college industry university research experience exchange meeting was held in our college. Minister Zhou Ji highly praised the school running performance of our college, which is called Yongzhou mode, Yongzhou direction and Yongzhou spirit. The college has four productive practice bases, including Affiliated Hospital, practice farm, Tongtong driving school and affiliated school. In 2007, the college successfully entered the first batch of Demonstrative Higher Vocational Colleges in Hunan Province and the construction units of National Demonstrative Higher Vocational Colleges.
