Founded in 1959, Jiangxi University of traditional Chinese medicine is located in Nanchang City, the capital of Jiangxi Province. The university is a state-owned full-time ordinary university. It is a University jointly built by the State Administration of traditional Chinese medicine and the people's Government of Jiangxi Province. It is a counterpart University designated by the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee, the National People's Commission and the Ministry of education to support the western region. After nearly 60 years of unremitting efforts, the education and teaching level of the university has been greatly improved, scientific research achievements have been fruitful, and various undertakings have achieved leapfrog development. It has become a University of traditional Chinese medicine with distinctive characteristics of taking traditional Chinese medicine as the main body, coordinated development of multi disciplines, and combination of production, study and research.

School scale: the school has more than 14000 full-time students, 15 secondary education colleges (departments), 2 directly affiliated hospitals, 9 non directly affiliated hospitals and 192 practice teaching bases. There are 2 masters of traditional Chinese medicine, 3 national famous traditional Chinese medicine, 8 national excellent teachers, 2 national famous teaching teachers of traditional Chinese medicine colleges and universities, 37 national old experts' academic experience inheritance instructors, 5 members of the 10th National Pharmacopoeia Committee, and 79 experts enjoying special subsidies from the State Council and provincial government.

Teaching conditions: the school has four campuses, Wanli, Yangming, Fusheng and Wangcheng, covering an area of 1662.22 mu, with beautiful campus environment, rich educational resources and advanced teaching facilities. The school has a construction area of 479800 square meters and a total assets of 2.418 billion yuan. Among them, the area of teaching, experimental and administrative rooms is 229100 square meters, the total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 521 million yuan, the library has a paper collection of more than 1377000 books, 41 literature databases and 976000 electronic books.

Discipline: the university has 27 undergraduate majors, covering medicine, science, engineering, management, economics, literature, art and other disciplines, with the right to confer doctorate, master's degree and bachelor's degree. It has 2 first-class disciplines authorized by doctor's degree, 6 first-class disciplines authorized by master's degree, 4 categories authorized by master's degree and 2 provincial demonstration master's degree. It has 12 key disciplines of the State Administration of traditional Chinese medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine and Chinese materia medica have been selected as the first-class disciplines in Jiangxi Province, with a special construction fund of 372 million yuan from the provincial finance. Pharmacy, integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, and public management have been listed as the key disciplines of the 12th Five Year Plan. It has 3 national characteristic specialties, 1 national comprehensive reform pilot specialty, 7 provincial characteristic specialties and 6 provincial comprehensive reform pilot specialties. In 2017, the University obtained the postgraduate qualification of recommending excellent fresh undergraduate graduates to study for master's degree without examination and the "5 + 3" integrated enrollment qualification of traditional Chinese medicine.

International Exchange: the university is one of the first batch of institutions of higher learning approved by the Ministry of education to be qualified to accept foreign students. It has been rated as the "advanced unit of foreign student education in the province" for four consecutive years. There are more than 1500 international students in the University. The students come from 32 countries around the world, covering doctoral students, master students, undergraduate students and other levels of education. Jiangxi Provincial Hospital of traditional Chinese medicine, the affiliated hospital directly under the University, is a comprehensive hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention and health care, and rehabilitation. It is the first "third class a hospital of traditional Chinese medicine" in Jiangxi Province, with more than 1700 open beds.
