Jiujiang Vocational University is a public full-time Municipal Higher Vocational College approved by the Ministry of education in 1985. In April 2006, Jiujiang Normal University and Jiujiang Vocational University merged and reorganized. Jiujiang normal school, founded in 1903, originated from Lianxi academy founded by Zhou Dunyi, a neo Confucianist of the song and Ming Dynasties. In March 2009, Jiangxi Lushan tourism technical secondary school was transferred to Jiujiang Vocational University as a whole. The school is located in the urban area of Jiujiang City, at the foot of Lushan Mountain and on the Bank of the Yangtze River. There are two campuses, Hewen lake and Lianxi.
