Gansu Forestry Vocational and technical college, founded in 1956, is a public full-time ordinary college with the enrollment qualification of higher education. In order to meet the needs of ecological environment construction in Western China, Gansu Forestry School was transformed into higher vocational college with the approval of Gansu Provincial People's Government in July 2001.

In 2003, the college was determined by the Ministry of education and the Ministry of finance as a local demonstrative vocational college supported by the central finance. In December 2004, it was named as a provincial civilized unit by Gansu provincial Party committee and government. In 2005, it won the title of "advanced school of green school activity in Gansu Province". In 2006, it won the title of "advanced unit of forestry science and technology in Gansu Province". In May 2007, the Ministry of education passed the evaluation of talent training in higher vocational colleges, and the evaluation result was excellent. In August 2007, it was established as a national model higher vocational college by the Ministry of education and the Ministry of finance.

The college covers an area of 4150 mu (including 3700 mu of Experimental Forest Farm), with a building area of 168000 square meters, complete school facilities, reasonable layout and beautiful environment. There are 62 professional laboratories and training bases, 8 multimedia classrooms, 1080 teaching computers and 360000 books in the library. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 48.2 million yuan. Among them, the desertification prevention and control laboratory has been established as a provincial key laboratory, and the key laboratories of remote sensing technology training base, environmental monitoring laboratory and geographic information technology training base have reached the leading level in the province; the tree herbarium with nearly 30 years of history joined the Royal Qiuyuan Botanical Garden Network System in 2000, and was included in the index of Chinese herbarium; the campus The comprehensive training base covers an area of 55 mu, which can complete more than 300 training tasks and related scientific research work of landscape technology and other related majors; the experimental forest farm in Maiji Mountain scenic area covers an area of 3700 mu, which has built a teaching and training base suitable for higher vocational education integrating teaching, scientific research and production, and can complete more than 40 training tasks and related scientific research work of forestry technology and other related majors Make. The college has nine teaching departments (departments) including forestry engineering, landscape engineering, environmental engineering, surveying and mapping engineering, construction engineering, information engineering, economic management, foundation department and adult education department. There are 26 specialties. The college is mainly located in Gansu Province and is open to enrollment nationwide. Currently, there are 5901 full-time students and 800 adult undergraduate and junior college correspondence students. The college adheres to the policy of "introduction, optimization, training and improvement", and has built a high-level and characteristic teaching staff. At present, there are 428 teaching staff, including 306 full-time teachers, 160 "double qualification" teachers, 6 professors, 88 associate professors and 60 teachers with master's degree or above; 16 visiting professors, 70 part-time teachers and 1 foreign teacher are employed in relevant universities, engineering technology units and scientific research institutes inside and outside the province. In order to create a good atmosphere of education, we should persist in carrying out the activities of teacher's ethics and style education among teachers, leading the style of study with the style of teaching and promoting the style of school with the style of study. The college has 12 teachers who have won national or provincial awards.

In accordance with the requirements of "Three Orientations", the college attaches importance to academic exchanges with domestic and foreign universities and scientific research institutions. More than 20 experts and scholars from home and abroad have been invited to give lectures in the college, and more than 30 teachers have been selected to investigate, further study and study in relevant domestic and foreign universities and production and scientific research institutions. Four teachers were selected to carry out academic exchanges and international project cooperation at UNB University in Canada. In April 2005, they signed a cooperation agreement with UNB University on jointly training students of forestry technology, academic exchanges and personnel visits.

In 2008, the college enrolled 26 majors, including forestry technology, environmental monitoring and governance technology. Among them, forestry technology specialty was identified as the key construction specialty of Higher Vocational Colleges by the Ministry of education in 2002, architectural decoration technology specialty was identified as the cultivation specialty of skilled talents in construction industry by the Ministry of education and the Ministry of construction in 2004, and forestry technology, environmental monitoring and governance technology, engineering measurement technology, computer application technology and other four specialties were identified as the provincial teaching reform pilot Professional. In 2007, forestry technology, environmental monitoring and control technology, and soil and water conservation were established as the key supporting construction majors by the Ministry of education and the Ministry of finance.

The college adheres to the combination of teaching, scientific research and production. Since the establishment of the Institute, the teachers of the whole institute have presided over or participated in 96 teaching and research projects, 56 of which have passed the appraisal, 23 of which have won the provincial and municipal (Department) level science and technology progress awards; they have completed more than 40 production projects; they have edited or participated in the compilation of 82 teaching materials and works, 9 of which have won the municipal (Department) level science and technology progress awards; More than 800 papers have been published in academic journals at or above the provincial level, and two of them have been entered into EI index database.

At the same time, the college pays close attention to the employment work of graduates and establishes the employment service station for our college graduates in the "Yangtze River Delta" area, which provides an employment platform for our college graduates, ensures the timely employment of graduates, improves the employment rate of graduates, and makes our college graduate More than 90% of the students are employed.

In 2008, the college plans to recruit 2500 students. The enrollment targets are ordinary high school graduates and three vocational students (vocational middle school, technical secondary school and technical secondary school graduates) from 14 provinces (autonomous regions) including Gansu, Qinghai, Shaanxi, Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Sichuan, Yunnan, Shandong, Hunan, Tibet, Chongqing, Anhui, Xinjiang and Ningxia, all of which are enrolled in a unified way.
