Chongqing University is a national key university directly under the Ministry of education. It is a high-level research-oriented comprehensive university under the national "211 Project" and "985 Project". The school is located in Chongqing, an important industrial and commercial town in Southwest China and an economic center in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. The campus is located in Shapingba District, a famous cultural district with rich cultural resources.

Chongqing University was founded in 1929. As early as the 1940s, it became a national comprehensive university with six colleges of Arts, science, engineering, business, law and medicine. Ma Yinchu, Li Siguang, he Lu, Feng Jian, Ke Zhao, Wu Mi, Wu Guanzhong and many other famous scholars have taught in the school. After the adjustment of departments and colleges in 1952, Chongqing University became a multi-disciplinary university directly under the Ministry of education with engineering as the main subject. Chongqing University now has 29 post doctoral mobile stations, 28 first-class discipline doctoral degree authorization points (covering 90 second-class discipline doctoral degree authorization points), 3 second-class doctoral degree authorization points, 51 first-class discipline master degree authorization points (covering 181 second-class discipline master degree authorization points), and 4 second-class master degree authorization points.
