In 2001, the school was officially approved by the people's Government of Sichuan Province and named as "Sichuan Electric Power Vocational and Technical College". Its predecessor was Chengdu hydropower school, the former national key technical secondary school founded in 1917. The college is the reserve talent training base and production personnel training base of Sichuan electric power company, integrating teaching, training, production and scientific research consulting. In 2006, the college won the "excellent" grade in the "evaluation of talent training level in Higher Vocational Colleges". Located in Chengdu, a famous historical and cultural city, the college has four campuses, namely Caotang, Wenjiang and Qingfengling luojianian, covering an area of 883 mu.
