The predecessor of the school is Chongqing Machinery Manufacturing school. In 1956, it was founded by the former Ministry of machinery industry; in 2000, Chongqing Machinery Manufacturing school and Chongqing mechanical workers University were merged and upgraded to Chongqing Industrial Vocational and technical college; in 2006, it became one of the first batch of 28 national model higher vocational colleges; In 2010, the school moved from Yuanjiagang, Jiulongpo District to renmutan new campus of Yubei Airport (No.1000 Taoyuan Avenue, 1.5km away from Jiangbei International Airport).
