Herbs Biennial. Stem erect, branched, angulate, green, 30-50 cm high. Single leaf opposite; oblong or ovate lanceolate, 2-2.5 cm long, apex obtuse, base rounded or broadly cuneate, entire, 3 main veins; without petiole. Cyme terminal and axillary, pedicel thin; flowers small, 6-7 mm in diameter, yellow green; calyx 4-lobed, lobes lanceolate; corolla campanulate, 4-lobed below middle, lobes base with pit hole, extending long distance, upward recurved; stamen 4, inserted near base of corolla; pistil 1, ovary 1-locular. Capsule ovate, dehiscent to base after ripening. The seeds are numerous. It blooms in autumn.
Born on the sunny slope of mountains. It is distributed from southwest to central China.
