Shrubs, 10-30 cm high. The root is brown. The stem is erect, the branch is thin, the old branch is black gray, hairy, the young branch is purple, densely hairy. Single leaf alternate: leathery; ovate elliptic or ovate lanceolate, 3-5.5 cm long, margin with sharp needle like serration, dark green above, only midrib hairy, green below, white pilose, more dense on veins; petiole reddish, pilose. Raceme terminal or axillary, densely covered with white soft hairs; bracts elliptic, margin slightly serrate; calyx shallow cup-shaped, hairy, 5-lobed; corolla tube pot shaped, white or reddish, 5-lobed, apex turned outward; stamen 10, corolla tube base, filament hairy; pistil 1, ovary inferior, stigma capitate. Berry, subglobose, purple. The flowering period is from April to May. The fruit period is from June to August.
Born in hillside forest. It is distributed in Sichuan and Yunnan.
