Evergreen shrubs, up to 1 m high. Stem usually simple or finely branched near stem tip. Leaves alternate, lanceolate or broadly lanceolate, 9-20 cm long and 1.5-5 cm wide, apex acuminate, margin nearly entire, or microwave serrated, base broadly cuneate, dark green above and light green below, veins protruding below, dark brown glandular spots near the margin at the top of reticulum; petiole 8-15 mm long. The flowers are arranged into corymbs, the total petiole is about 6 cm long, the petiole is slender, 1-2 cm long, densely covered with short glandular hairs; the calyx is 5-lobed, and the lobes are lanceolate to oblong; the Corolla is purplish red, campanulate, 5-lobed, and the lobes are ovate to ovate lanceolate; the stamen is 5-lobed at the base of the corolla, the filament is short, and the anther is arrow shaped; the pistil is 1-shaped, the ovary is spherical, and the style is thin, Apex pointed.
