[plant morphology] Euonymus japonicus
Deciduous shrub, about 4 m high. The branches are nearly quadrangular, hard and straight, with 2-4 corky wings, grayish brown; the winter buds are small. Leaves opposite, oblong to oblong lanceolate, 6-10 cm long, apex acuminate, base cuneate, margin serrate, glabrous on both sides; petiole 7-15 mm long. Flowers purple, cyme; pedicel 5 mm long; peduncle 1-2.5 cm long. Capsule 4-lobed, ovoid, red, ca. 7 mm long, style persistent, ca. 0. 2 cm long, mucronate.
It grows in forest edge and riverine shrub. It is distributed in Henan, Shaanxi, Gansu, Sichuan and other places.

Cold in nature and bitter in taste.

Functions and indications: breaking blood, dropping fetus, regulating menstruation and Dipsacus. Treatment of postpartum abdominal pain, bleeding, rheumatic pain.
[usage and dosage] oral administration: decoct soup, 2-3 yuan; or soak in wine.
[prescription selection] ① for irregular menstruation and small abdominal pain: Euonymus alatus with wulingzhi and Angelica sinensis. Take it in water.
② Niuweihua and qiqibai are used to treat fracture, rheumatism, cirrus, etc. Wine making clothes.
