Bare shrubs or subshrubs. Stem base prostrate, upper part erect or climbing, nodes expanded. Leaves alternate, submembranous, broadly ovate or suborbicular, 7-12 cm long and 5-10 cm wide, apex short, base nearly truncate or shallowly cordate, entire; green; 5-7 main veins, veinlets reticulate; petiole 1-3 cm long. The inflorescence is about 2.5 cm long in male inflorescence and 6-8 mm long in female inflorescence; the peduncle is 1-2.5 cm long; the bracts are shield shaped, connate with the central axis, about 6 mm in diameter; there is no perianth, with 3-5 styles, not protruding at first and bending outward at last. The berries are dense, mulberry shaped and cyan. It blooms in autumn. The fruit period is autumn and winter.
