Perennial erect herbs, 15-50 cm high. The tuberous roots are spindle shaped. Stems weak, sparsely brown villous and grayish white pubescent. Leaf blade oblong lanceolate to linear, 2.5-6 cm long, 0.5-1.2 cm wide, apex acute, base nearly round or heart-shaped; upper green, with scattered long hairs, lower pink green, with gray white stellate hairs, midvein with rusty sparse hairs; stipules linear, 2-6 mm long. Raceme axillary, peduncle 4-10 mm long, with 1-2 flowers; bracts linear lanceolate; calyx campanulate, covered with brown yellow villous and gray white pubescent, calyx teeth 5, nearly equal length; corolla pale yellow, 6-7 mm long, petal ovate, upper part with short hairs, base with two ears and short claws, wing and keel petals outside, slightly hairy along the top: stamen 10, 2-body; pistil 1 Ovary densely covered with white hirsute, sessile, ovule 2; style linear, stigma capitate. Pods oblong, inflated, 8-10 mm long, 6 mm wide, apically apical, covered with brownish yellow villi and gray white pubescence; seeds 2, purple black, reniform. The flowering period is May. The fruiting period is July.
It grows on sunny hillside, grass slope, dry mountain top and grassland. Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou and other places.

[medicinal material] the root tuber is fleshy, conical, 4-7 cm long, 2-4 cm in diameter, with slender end and lignification. The surface is dark brown, with short transverse protuberances and a few whisker like branching roots. The dry root surface is grayish brown and covered with irregular wrinkles. It is soft and tough, with light brown outside and white inside.
