Annual herbs, up to 40 cm, soft and smooth. The primary leaves are lanceolate linear, the secondary leaves gradually widen, and finally become heart-shaped ovate, 6-10 cm long and 3.5-8 cm wide, with sharp apex, entire margin, smooth and glabrous on both sides; the root petiole is about 30 cm long, the stem petiole is about 6 mm long, and the lower part is wide and embracing. Inflorescence racemose, terminal, pedicel longer than leaf; flower blue, perianth piece 6, elliptic, apex blunt; stamen 6, 5 small, anther yellow, 1 large, anther purple, the central part of the filament has hook piece; pistil 1, longer than stamen; after flowering, pedicel gradually downward curved. Capsule ovate, 8-10 mm long, enclosed in persistent perianth piece. The flowering period is from July to September. The fruit period is from August to October.

It grows in paddy field, pond and ditch. It is distributed in Northeast and East China.
