[plant morphology] oregano
Herbs erect, 25-50 cm tall, perennial. Stem base lignified, smooth, cylindrical, upper square, surface light brown purple, with fine villi, with nodes. Leaves opposite, ovoid, 1-3 cm long, 6-15 mm wide, apex obtuse, base rounded, or broadly cuneate, entire, glandular dots and fine hairs on both sides; petiole 2-5 mm long. Flowers bisexual, 2-flowered in whorls, densely forming terminal spike corymbs; bracts short stalked, ovoid, with fine hairs on both sides; calyx cylindric, 2.3 mm long, with 5 teeth and 15 veins, with hairs on the outside and tooth margin and glandular dots on the inside; corolla pink, with fine hairs and glandular dots on the top, 2 lips, upper lip erect, tip slightly concave, lower lip 3-lobed; stamens 4, inserted at the throat of corolla tube; Style apically 2-lobed. 4 nutlets, brown and smooth.
