The body is slightly oblate, with hard scales on the abdomen and back, about 16 cm long and 12 cm wide. The head is large and cannot be retracted into the nail. It was strong and curved. The dorsal shell is flat, brown, and the dorsal edge is not obvious; the apical squama is very small, with 5 dorsal shells and the second, third and fourth larger ones; the costal squama has 4 on each side; the marginal squama has 11 on each side, with different shapes and sizes; the anal squama has 2 smaller ones. There are 12 scales on the ventral surface, with light color and black spots. It has long hind limbs, long sharp claws except for the lateral toes, and webbed fingers. The tail is very long, almost as long as the abdominal carapace. There are square scales at the base of the tail, arranged in a ring.
It lives in mountain streams and can climb rocks. It is carnivorous. Distributed in Zhejiang, Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Anhui and other places.
