Evergreen woody vines. Young branches pubescent, old branches glabrous, grayish brown, with many fine stripes. Leaves subcleathery, alternate, ovate elliptic, elliptic or oblong, apex acute, base obtuse, 5-8 cm long, 3-5 cm wide, glabrous or sparsely pilose along midvein, entire or microwave-shaped, with 3 basal veins; petiole 5-12 mm long. Flowers unisexual, dioecious; male inflorescence axillary cyme, composed of 3-5 flowers, 1 cm long; male flower yellow, sepals 8-10, outer ring 2-3, middle ring 2, inner ring 4-5, petals 4-5, stamens 5-6; female inflorescence usually degenerate, with only one flower; sepals and petals of female flower are similar to those of male flower, without staminode, carpel 2. The inflorescence has only one drupe, which is nearly spherical. The flowering and fruiting period is summer.
It grows on the river bank, forest edge and bush. It is distributed in Yunnan, Guangdong and Fujian.
