Herbs, stoloniferous, rooting at base 30-50 cm, perennial. Stems erect, simple or branched, square; long hairs on edges. Leaves opposite, elliptic lanceolate, 2.5-8 cm long, 0.7-2.5 cm wide, apex obtuse or acute, base broad cordate, margin with obtuse teeth, both sides with white pubescence, lower dense; petiole short, 0.2-0.5 cm long. The flower ring is 7-13, Each round has 6 to many flowers, axillary or terminal on branch tip; bracts are very small, rigidly hairy, opposite to the base of petiole; calyx campanulate, 0.7 cm long, outside covered with long hairs, 2-lipped, 5-toothed, tooth tip with needle tip; corolla lip shaped, light red or purplish red, 1.3 cm long, lip outer covered with villous, upper lip oblong, entire, lower lip with 3 lobes; stamens 4, 2-strong, protruding crown Simple outside and beneath upper lip; style apically 2-lobed. 4 nuts, obovate, dark brown, smooth. The flowering period is from May to June. The fruit period is from June to July.
It grows on the river bank, in the grass or beside the mountain road. It is distributed in Shaanxi, Jiangsu, Anhui, Guizhou, Hubei, Sichuan, Jiangxi and Taiwan.
