[plant morphology] Begonia apetala
Perennial herbs. Stem erect, 50-70 cm high, with longitudinal groove, nodes expanded, all covered with brown red hairs. Single leaf alternate, obliquely ovate, 6-25 cm long, 3-15 cm wide, apex acuminate, base obliquely cordate, margin serrate, with sparse giant teeth, green above, with light purple halo, purple below, 5-9 basal veins, leaf veins densely hairy; petiole 3-11 cm long; stipules 2, lanceolate, membranous. The pollen is red and monoecious, with male and female flowers on the same bouquet. Capsule.
It grows under the shady forest and beside the stream.

Functions and indications: clearing away heat, relieving cough, dispersing blood stasis and detumescence. Treatment of chronic bronchitis, lung heat cough, exogenous high fever, tonsillitis, pertussis, carbuncle sore, red swelling, nameless swelling toxin, traumatic injury.
[usage and dosage] oral: decoction, 2-3 yuan. External use: tamping.
