Shrubs or small trees, up to 1-2 m high. Stems sometimes without spines, branches usually with prickles and small lenticels. Most of them grow in hillside shrubs or roadsides, and some are planted in gardens. Distributed in Fujian, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Hubei, Jiangxi, Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan, Hebei and other places.

[collection] the twigs with leaves were harvested from July to September and dried in the sun.
[herbal medicine] the dried leaflets are sometimes broken or shrunk, and the intact ones are oval or oval in shape, often reflexed downward.
