[plant morphology] Zanthoxylum bungeanum
Shrubs or small trees, 1 m high. Twigs dark brown or dark gray with sparse, short, recurved prickles. Leaves alternate, singly pinnate; leaflets 2-7 pairs, with very short petiole; leaflets ovate or broadly ovate, 2.5-5 cm long, 1.5-3.5 cm wide, margin sharply serrate, with thick glandular dots between teeth and two faces of leaves, dark green above and light green below. Cymes terminal; dioecious; perianth segments 4-8. Follicles, mature carpels 2-4, brown, glandular punctate. Seed 1, black glossy.
It grows in the Bush on the hillside. Distributed in Tibet and other places.
[collection] the hot fruits were harvested from August to October. The peel is Zanthoxylum bungeanum, and the seed is capsicum.
[flavor] pungent, warm and slightly toxic.
Functions and indications: warm the middle and disperse the cold, dry the dampness and kill insects. Treatment of stomach and abdomen cold pain, vomiting, cold dampness diarrhea, ascariasis. Pepper eye: line water, treatment of edema fullness.
[usage and dosage] oral administration: decoction, 0.5-1 yuan.
