Small evergreen shrubs, up to 25 cm tall, climbing on rocks or trees. Leaves opposite or 3-impeller-shaped; leathery, oblong lanceolate, 2.5-5 cm long, 0.8-1.2 cm wide, apex obtuse or pointed, margin obtuse sparse serrate, base cuneate or obtuse, main vein protruding below; petiole purplish red green. Cymes axillary and terminal, pedicel ca. 1 cm long; calyx deeply 5-lobed, lobes narrowly lanceolate; corolla simple, white to reddish, ca. 5 cm long, swollen above middle, 2-lipped, 5-lobed; stamen 2-developed, staminode 2-lobed; stamen 1, superior to ovary. Capsule linear, about 7-10 cm long, 3 mm in diameter. Seeds minute, fusiform, brown, with brown hairs at both ends. The flowering period is August.
It grows in the shady and wet places on the hillside. It is distributed in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi and other places.
