[plant morphology] Cinnamomum thunbergii

Herbs slender and hairy. The stem is 20-70 cm high, branched, expanded or oblique, not twining. Leaves alternate; ovate, elliptic or oblong, ca. 5 mm long, sometimes up to 10 mm long, apex mucronate, base obtuse, entire, both surfaces densely silky. Flowers small, axillary, solitary or 2-3 on slender peduncle, peduncle longer than leaf; bracts small, linear, hairy; sepals 5; corolla funnel-shaped, light blue or near white, diameter 6-8 mm; stamens 5; ovary superior, style 2. The seeds are spherical, with 4 capsules. The flowering period is from spring to autumn.
