[animal morphology] Acipenser sinensis

The body is more than 2 meters long, the back is narrow and the abdomen is straight. The head is covered with smooth bony plates. Ventral position, forming a transverse cleft, 2 pairs of snout, equal length, parallel transverse. Small eyes. The gill hole is large, the gill rake is thin and sharp, about 22. There is one bone plate on each side of the jaw; there are five rows of bone plates in the body, one row in the middle of the back is larger, two rows in the back and ventral sides, and one or two pieces in the front and back of the gluteal fin; there is a row of spinous bone plates in the upper lobe of the caudal fin, and the other parts are smooth and scaleless. Dorsal fin 54-66; pectoral fin developed, ventral; gluteal fin 32-41; caudal fin crooked, upper lobe developed. The body back and head are bluish gray, the abdomen is white, and the fins are bluish gray.

They live in rivers and coastal waters. It is distributed in changqian and Qiantang River Basins and other coastal areas.

In addition, there are also acipensers of the family Acipenser, which are more than 2 meters long. Bare smooth, only small scales. Gray green back, white belly. The head is long, the snout is long, protruding like a sword, the mouth is ventral, and the eyes are small. It is distributed in the East China Sea and the Yellow Sea, and enters qiantangqian, the Yangtze River and the Yellow River. This is the sturgeon in the compendium.
