Shrubs, 1-1.5 m high, covered with grayish yellow stellate pubescence. Leaves alternate, papery; oblong or ovate oblong, usually 5-8 cm long, sometimes twice as long, 2-3 cm wide, apex acuminate or acute or slightly obtuse, margin small serrate, glandular dots on margin, base broadly cuneate, 2 glandular dots near petiole; pilose, nearly bald when old; petiole 6-10 mm long. Flowers unisexual; raceme terminal, 7-16 cm long; bracts small, conic, entire; male flowers clustered, upper part of inflorescence, about 2 mm in diameter, calyx 5-lobed, petals 5-lobed, oblong, stamens 10-12, attached on hairy disk; female flowers several at the base of inflorescence, calyx 5-lobed, 2 mm long, petals very small, conic, ovary hairy, 3-locular, 1 ovule per locule, style 2-lobed. Capsule up to 1 cm in diameter, covered with stellate hairs and long hirsute hairs. The flowering period is May.
It grows on hillsides and shrubs. It is distributed in the south of China.
