[plant morphology] Machilus microphylla
Perennial evergreen epiphytic shrubs, about 1 m high. With Beaded spindle tuberous roots. Branching, twigs black brown pilose. Leaves alternate, leathery, ovate, ca. 1.5 cm long and 1 cm wide, apex mucronate, margin inconspicuously serrate. Flowers axillary; calyx tube globose, lobes 5, persistent; corolla white, lobes 5; stamens 10, filaments short, upper part of anther chamber extended into 2 long beaks, apically lobed, posterior spurred. Berries globose.
Attached to tree trunks or rocks, Yunnan.
[collection] it can be harvested all year round, sliced, dried or fresh.
Light and cool.
Functions and indications: soothe the liver, dispel wind and dampness, disperse blood stasis and detumescence. It can treat jaundice hepatitis, irregular menstruation, rheumatism and bone pain, lumbago and knee arthralgia, infantile convulsion and leprosy.
[usage and dosage] oral administration: decoction, 0.5-1 Liang; or soaking in wine. External use: tamping.
[selection] ① treatment of hepatitis: tree radish, Sanyaku. Take it in water.
② Treatment of fractures, injuries, swelling, unknown swelling poison: fresh tree radish tamping.
