[plant morphology] Kalanchoe
Annual herb with white milk. Stems prostrate, much branched, slightly hairy, less than 15 cm tall, usually red. Leaves opposite, elliptic to oblong, 4-6 mm long, rarely up to 8 mm wide, 2-4 mm wide, apex obtuse, base oblique and truncate, margin slightly serrate, dark green above, light green below, grayish white; petiole very short; stipules small, on the basal side of petiole. Cupule solitary or few umbelliform arranged in leaf axils; few sessile; involucre gyrate, lavender, ca. 1 mm long; glands 4, funnel-shaped; flowers unisexual, without perianth; male and female flowers in involucre; male flowers numerous, with only stamen 1; female flowers 1, in the middle of inflorescence, ovary 3-locular, style 2, free and apically 2-lobed. Capsule hairy, ovate triangular, about 1.5 mm long. The seeds have 5-6 longitudinal furrows. It blooms in summer.
It is wild in grassland. Distributed in Guangdong, Fujian, Yunnan, Guizhou, Taiwan and other places.
