Weak herbaceous vines with tendrils 1-3 m long. The stem is longitudinally striated and sparsely short hairy. The leaves are alternate, 2-whorled and 3-compound, 5-10 cm long; the leaflets are membranous, ovate to lanceolate, 1-5 cm long, with coarse teeth or division on the margin. The flowers are small, white, 2-2.5 mm long, symmetrical, axillary, with several long stalked cymes, 2 tendrils below; sepals 4-5; petals 4, 2 of which are large and adherent to sepals, 1 large and flat scale above the base, 2 of which are small and 1 coronal scale above the base; disk slanting to one side; stamens 8, slanting, filaments separated or united at the base; ovary 3-locular, style 3-lobed .
