Herbaceous perennial, 8-20 cm high. Rhizome short and erect, top densely covered with lanceolate scales. The leaves are long lanceolate, herbaceous, 6-12cm long, 2-3cm wide in the middle, glabrous, 2-or 3-cleft, with narrow wings on both sides of the feather axis and the leaf axis; the basal feather is slightly short, the middle feather is 0.9-2cm long, triangular rectangular; the top of the last lobe has 2-3 sharp teeth. The sporangium group has one leaf per lobe, and is often covered under the leaves when it matures.
Born on the rocks by the stream. It is distributed in the south of Yangtze River, North China and Northwest China.

Functions and indications: resolving phlegm, relieving cough, benefiting diaphragm and stopping bleeding. Treatment of cold, cough, tuberculosis, traumatic bleeding.
[usage and dosage] oral administration: decoction, 2-3 yuan (1 liang for large dosage). External use: powder mixing.
[selection] cough treatment: five to one or two bucks for dipper branches and two to three bucks for golden back loquat fruits. Fried in water instead of tea.
