Evergreen shrubs with stout, glabrous branches. Leaves opposite or alternate, leathery, ovate or elliptic, 5-12 cm long, apex acuminate, base broadly cuneate to rounded, brown black when dry; petiole 8-14 mm long. Racemes axillary, solitary or paired, 5-13 cm long; pedicels 1-2 mm long; flowers about 9 mm long, 5-numbered, base expanded into pentagonal, bracts ovate; calyx tube gyro shaped or cylindrical, calyx eaves top truncated; corolla 5-7 mm long, covered with brown black powder, lobes turned outward, top rod-shaped, stamens protruding; styles with nodes in the middle, lower 2 / 5 have 5-angled. Berries cylindrical, ca. 7 mm long, seeds oblong, ca. 4 mm long. It blooms in early spring. The fruit period is from May to July.
